Terms of use
Effective October 18, 2026
Yesteryear is made by Outport Software in Newfoundland and Labrador, Canada. By using Yesteryear you agree to these terms. They are written to be short and plain.
Using Yesteryear
You may use Yesteryear on your own devices for personal use. Please only restore photos you have the right to use.
Purchases
Yesteryear includes free restorations. A one-time purchase unlocks unlimited use; there is no subscription. Purchases and refunds are handled by Google Play or Apple's App Store under their terms.
Results
Yesteryear uses artificial intelligence to estimate what a damaged or faded photo looked like. Results are a best guess: colors and repaired areas may not match the original scene. Your original photo is never changed, so you can always go back to it.
No warranty
Yesteryear is provided as is, without warranties of any kind. To the extent the law allows, we are not liable for any loss arising from using the app, including the loss of any photo. Keep backups of photos that matter to you.
Open source
Yesteryear is built on open source software and models. Their licenses are listed in the app under Settings, Acknowledgements.
Changes
We may update these terms. If we do, we will update this page and its effective date.
